Rotary Projects
The main objective of Rotary is service in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world.
The Rotary Club of Hexham is involved in various charitable projects at local, national and international level. The objectives of each of the Club’s Committees are described below. Please visit their pages by clinking on the links.
The Vocational Committee
The Vocational Committee seeks to reflect the Rotary Club’s pride in the professional expertise of its members. Its activities are focused on projects which encourage and support vocational training and development of young people. To highlight this the Committee organises and facilitates two competitions on an annual basis. The Young Employee of the Year Competition is based in Tynedale, whilst the Young Designer and Technologist of the Year Competition is Northumberland-wide and has as its base the Discovery Museum in Newcastle.
Youth Opportunities Committee
In support of this objective the Rotary Club of Hexham has a small sub-committee whose function is to develop and maintain links with youth organisations and schools in the Tynedale area. The Club will help fund individuals and groups in support of these objectives.
The International Committee
The International Committee’s primary role is to give aid and support where needed in countries outside the UK, generally those of the developing world. The Rotary Club of Hexham provides financial support and physical resources both at times of crisis and of general need on an everyday basis.
The Community Service Committee
The Community Service Committee organises Rotary activities in the area local to the club such as The Christmas Chronicle and the Fore Street Christmas collection. The committee also manages the distribution of grant awards to local applicants
