Christmas Chronicle 2008

 

The Rotary Club of Hexham produced its Christmas Chronicle for the thirtieth year running. This was distributed with the Hexham Courant on 5 December 2008, which is read by about 45,000 people.

 

The competitions proved to be as popular as ever.

 

The winners collected their prizes on Monday 12 January at Hexham Community Centre. They were presented by Mayor JB Jonas and Hexham Courant Deputy Editor Brian Tilley (Hextol). Courant photographer David Hewitson was on hand to photograph the winners.

The Christmas Chronicle 2007

The ever popular Christmas Chronicle is published by the club and more than 45,000 copies are distributed by The Hexham Courant to most households in Tynedale.  Issued in the first week of December the magazine includes articles on Rotary activities, community activities, competitions and puzzles.  The magazine is funded by local business advertising and the surplus is donated to local charities.

 

The Children’s Colouring Competition 2007
This year many fine entries were received from children aged between 4 and 10.  The winning entries were submitted by Chloe Watt 3rd, Thomas Lumsden 2nd and Ewan Whiteside 1st.  The book token prizes were sponsored by Skipton Building Society and BT Bell.

 

Fore Street Christmas Collection 2007

During the week before Christmas the Club collect in Hexham’s Fore Street.  With the backdrop of a Christmas tree donated by Bywell Estates, local schools and musical groups performed and added to the festive atmosphere.  The Inner Wheel also collect on one day of the week.  This year £700 was donated to Tynedale Community Hospice and £700 to The Childrens Wing of St Oswald’s Hospice.
