
The Big Splash Presentation Evening was held at Studio 4, Wentworth Leisure Centre at 6 p.m. on Wednesday 4th March. The sponsorship proceeds from the event held on 23rd November 2008 were distributed. The function was well attended by Rotarians, members of the swimming teams, representatives of the principal sponsors Waitrose, Northumbrian Water and North Country Leisure, members of the groups receiving funds and also winners of the swimming prizes.
President Roy Dallison welcomed all who attended and distributed awards totalling £3600 to representatives of the following organisations:

Children North East Tynedale, Helen Whittaker & Cheryl Carruthers, £250 for the purchase of a dolls house and furniture for the children. |

Petilaw Abbeyfields House, Canon Campbell Matthews and Peter Tetley, £250 towards their garden project. |

Tynedale Talking Newspaper, Anne Ruddick & Ed Turnbull, £600 towards digital recording screens. |

WEMC 1st Boys Brigade, Mark Knowes, £300 towards start up projects and equipment. |

Derwentoak Dog Training Club, Jeanette Allison, £200 towards new floor covering. |

Epilepsy Action, Alice Morrissey, £300 to purchase a waterproof gazebo when attending shows. |

Henshaw Nursery, Arlene Bowes & Helen Revels, £250 to purchase a workshop. |

1st Haltwhistle Rainbows, Anne Duran, £150 towards costs of a day out to Talkin Tarn. |

Big Splash 2009
Following on from the success of this event, it is planned to hold Big Splash 2009 on
Sunday 27th September this autumn.
Details for entry will be posted on The Rotary Club of Hexham Website and all 2008 participants will be contacted in due course.
