Big Splash 2009
Jointly Organised by The Rotary Club of Hexham
North Country Leisure and Tynedale Amateur Swimming Club
It is planned to a hold sponsored swim at the Hexham Swimming Pool on Sunday 27th September 2009.
The proceeds raised will be to support local Tynedale Charities and it will be a major funding raising event and in attracting significant publicity. The Organisers are hoping to build on the success of last year’s event when some £3600 was raised for local charities and organisations
The objective is to have 40 teams comprising between three (3) and six (6) persons. Each Team will swim for approximately one hour on a relay basis. The event will be last for 10 hours starting at 0900hrs and finishing at 1900hrs. There will be awards for those teams who swim the most lengths and raise the most money.
The entry fee for Big Splash 2009 has been raised has been raised to £20 per team to defray expenses in organising the event. Each team entering has a target to raise £200.
This year the Organising Committee has decided that teams entering the Big Splash 2009 can choose one of two options as to how the money they raise through sponsorship is distributed. This is being done to encourage entries to the sponsored swim.
A team can choose to allocate 100% of the funds raised to help fund local charities and organisations across the Tynedale Area and these will be distributed by The Rotary Club of Hexham to organisations and charities that make applications to the Big Splash Fund.
Alternatively a team can request that 75% of the funds, raised by them, can be allocated to the organisation they represent with the remaining 25% being allocated to help fund local charities and organisations across the Tynedale Area by The Rotary Club of Hexham
All funds raised will be paid, in the first instance, to North Country Leisure Limited prior to being paid out by The Rotary Club of Hexham to participant organisations and external applicants.
